St. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church dates back to the 1920s. One of the very few orthodox temples in the Wielkopolska Region.

In 1818, an orthodox commune adapted a Franciscan convent for an Orthodox church. In 1835 an orthodox chapel was placed in a drill hall of a former Cadet Corps. What preserved that period is a Byzantine turret and an entrance at the building top (at present the Culture and Art Centre). In 1870`s, by order of tsarist authorities, in place of the present Departament Store, “Jantar” a monumental five-dome St. Peter and St. Paul`s orthodox church was erected. In 1926, under pressure of the community, which identified the orthodox church with the occupant, the building was pulled down. In 1929-1932, on the edge of the park, a small Orthodox Church was erected in a pseudo Roman style. As its predecessor, it received the name of St Peter and St Paul. The Iconostas and Tychwińska Virgin Mary icon come from the dismantled church.
